This book is like a part two of a book called "Fallen Angels" which was also written by Mr.Myers. In the book Sunrise Over Fallujah it tells the story of how a young man joins the army and talks about his experience while out in Iraq. When reading Sunrise Over Fallujah Robin will write to his uncle Richie. In one of Robin's letters he writes a letter to his uncle explaining to why he joined the army.
Here is a link to a document explain why being away at war will distance you from your family: https://dc.cod.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1384&context=essai This is a pretty interesting book, it gives a new perspective to what people really go through when they are sent somewhere to fight in a war. I personally like how Mr.Myers added the letters that Robin would write to his uncle. I also like how Mr.Myers showed that war can really make someone distant from their own family. I would recommend this book to anyone who is either looking for a different type of book to read or if you would like to get a different point of view on war. I would also recommend to read the book "Fallen Angels" before reading "Sunrise Over Fallujah". The reason I selected this book was because I was interested on how certain branches of the army do things during a war. |
